Universal Credit - What's it all about? - 13/04/2017

Universal Credit is a new benefit to supprt you if you are out of work or on a low income. It will be replacing: Jobseeker's Allowance; Employment and Support Allowance; Income Support; Housing Benefit; Working Tax Credit; and Child Tax Credit.

Universal Credit started for single people in Bristol last year. It will be rolled out in Bristol for couples and families in 2018:

- March 2018 in Bedminster, Bishopsworth and Bristol Central job centre areas.
- May 2018 in Easton, Horfield and Shirehampton job centre areas.

South Gloucestershire will be moving towards Universal Credit for families and couples by July 2018.

This seems like a long way away but it is a big change in how benefits are being paid so it is good to get your head around it sooner rather than later.
