Senior Management Team

The Senior Management Team consists of five members: the Chief Executive, the Transformation Director, the Director of Development & Asset Management, the Director of Housing, and the Director of Finance.

Joint Chief Executive
 
Anna graduated from Birmingham University with a BA in History before becoming ACA qualified. She worked at Deloitte for 4 years before leaving them in 2010 as their Assistant Audit Manager.

She then spent five years at the Cabot Learning Federation, a multi academy trust in Bristol, where she progressed through the ranks before becoming Finance Director.

Anna became United Communities' Finance Director in July 2015, then Interim Chief Executive in 2019 and is now Solon's and United Communities' Joint Chief Executive during our Strategic Alliance.

Interim Director of Finance

Rob joined Solon in September 2019 as our interim Director of Finance. He comes with great experience in the sector and was part of the Senior Management team at Gloucester City Homes for over 10 years.

His key responsibilities include leading on Solon's strategic financial planning and working closely with our Board. Since he started, Rob has been warmly welcomed by everyone and has been a great asset to the organisation.

Darryl HarkinDarryl Harkin
Director of Housing

Darryl was appointed Director of Housing in October 2013, having spent three and a half years as Housing Manager. He is in charge of the Housing Management and Supported Housing teams.
 
Prior to joining Solon, Darryl worked in a variety of roles for a number of large local authorities and Housing Associations. Having obtained his Institute of Housing qualification in 1987, Darryl worked his way up through the ranks at Leicester City Council before joining Bristol City Council in 1990 as a Senior Housing Officer in the Clifton Housing Office. During his 15 years at the Council, Darryl lead teams across the city before deciding to take up a fresh challenge with Housing21 who specialise in sheltered housing. The lure of managing General Needs housing was too great, hence the move to Solon in 2010. 
 
Darryl particularly likes working for Solon because of its size: "Being small means you get to work closely with colleagues in all departments and you gain an awareness of all the issues affecting the organisation. You also get to know the residents more because you probably have more regular contact."
 
The Housing team in particular has seen many changes over the past few years but these have been for the better and means we are well set to meet the challenges in the future.
Richard James
Richard James
Director of Development & Asset Management
 
Richard is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 16 years experience in the delivery of Development and Asset Management services within the social housing sector. He joined Solon in September 2015 as Director of Development and Asset Management. Prior to joining Solon he spent 5 years as Assistant Director of Asset Management and Head of Asset Management at Somer Community Housing Trust and then Curo. His focus is to deliver a customer focused Development and Asset Management service, ensuring:
  • Customers are safe in their home.
  • A high level of Asset intelligence informs effective investment programming.
  • New build and maintenance works are delivered to a high standard, meet customer needs and represent Value for Money

Joint Transformation Director

With over 20 years of success within the social housing sector, Claudia offers a wide breadth of skills across corporate services and front-line operations. As the Joint Transformation Director for Solon and United Communities, Claudia oversees the upcoming changes and Strategic Alliance between the housing associations.
