Senior Management Team

The Senior Management Team consists of four members; the Chief Executive, the Director of Development & Asset Management, the Head of Housing and the Finance Director.

Chief Executive
 
Paul joined Solon as Chief Executive in March 1999. He has many years' experience working with housing associations, starting at Notting Hill Housing Trust in 1983 followed by 9 years as Head of Development at CDS Co-operative Housing and Development Director at ASRA Greater London Housing Association.
 
During his career Paul has worked extensively with funders, developers, local authorities, residents and board members.
 
Paul has a planning degree  and a diploma in Management Studies. He is also a board member of Easton Community Centre.
Nasreen RazakNasreen Razak (ACA, AMCT)
Finance Director

Nasreen was appointed as Finance Director in April 2007. 
 
Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1988 with Ernst & Young, Nasreen  initially worked for Pioneer Concrete Holdings. From 1990, Nasreen worked in various financial management and treasury positions for various housing associations including Northcote Housing Association, English Churches Housing Group and  Refugee Housing Association (a subsidiary of Metropolitan Housing Trust).
 
The FD’s special interests are in project appraisals, financial planning models and treasury management.
Darryl HarkinDarryl Harkin
Director of Housing

Darryl was appointed Director of Housing in October 2013, having spent three and a half years as Housing Manager. He is in charge of the Housing Management and Supported Housing teams.
 
Prior to joining Solon, Darryl worked in a variety of roles for a number of large local authorities and Housing Associations. Having obtained his Institute of Housing qualification in 1987 Darryl worked his way up through the ranks at Leicester City Council before joining Bristol City Council in 1990 as a Senior Housing Officer in the Clifton Housing Office. During his 15 years at the Council Darryl lead teams across the city before deciding to take up a fresh challenge with a Housing 21 who specialise in sheltered housing. The lure of managing General Needs housing was too great however hence the move to Solon in 2010. 
 
Darryl particularly likes working for Solon because of its size, ‘being small means you get to work closely with colleagues in all departments and you gain an awareness of all the issues affecting the organisation’, and ’you get to know the residents more because you probably have more regular contact’.
 
The Housing team in particular has seen many changes over the past few years but these have been for the better and means we are well set to meet the challenges in the future.
Richard James
Richard James
Director of Development & Asset Management
 
Richard is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 16 years experience in the delivery of Development and Asset Management services within the social housing sector. He joined Solon in September 2015 as Director of Development and Asset Management. Prior to joining Solon he spent 5 years as Assistant Director of Asset Management and Head of Asset Management at Somer Community Housing Trust and then Curo. His focus is to deliver a customer focused Development and Asset Management service, ensuring:
  • Customers are safe in their home.
  • A high level of Asset intelligence informs effective investment programming.
  • New build and maintenance works are delivered to a high standard, meet customer needs and represent Value for Money.
